Onkyo has just announced a new THX certified Blu-ray disc player - the BD-SP808.  As well as being THX certified, it’s DLNA 1.5 certified and has a full array of state of the art technology, including Video On Demand, premium Marvel Qdeo video scaler, and studio-master quality Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio sound.

Two of the first manufacturers of next-gen 3D TVs reacted with unprecedented speed last month to consumer demand for big screen bargains as they look to dominate the 3DTV category.

Just five months into the launch of the first 3D TV sets, and with some market watchers estimating collective U.S. factory sales of a little over 220,000 3D TV units, both Samsung and Panasonic unveiled somewhat surprising new products that lower the price of adoption for a 3D-capable set.

Samsung’s move was the most aggressive: It brought out a 50-inch 3D plasma display with 720p resolution (instead of the customary FullHD 1080) that is already seeing sub- $1,000 prices at retail. The PN50C490 features 3D capability and 1,365 by 768p resolution.

PMC is a well known and respected UK based loudspeaker company that manufactures professional monitors and audiophile speaker systems.  In the UK on Sept. 18^th, to commemorate 10 yrs of model production, PMC will be launching limited edition Signature versions of the TB2i and FB1i.

Samsung has announced the FX2490HD 24-inch LED LCD multi-function monitor.  What makes this product unique is that it is both a computer monitor and HDTV all rolled up in one, allowing the user to easily switch from monitor for work to HDTV for play.

Parasound, a company well known for their high-end home theatre amplification products has introduced a new version of their highly regarded Halo JC 2 stereo preamplifier ($4500 USD, or $500 USD to upgrade existing units).

Sony has just recently announced some new additions to the 3D HDTV lineup.  The new Edge-lit LED NX810 Series 3D BRAVIA HDTV come in 46-inch, 55-inch and 60-inch screen sizes.

Denon Electronics has just announced that their AVR-4311CI Audio/Video Receiver ($1,999 U.S.) will be available in September 2010.

The new AVR is a 9.2-channel model that incorporates many of the most current audio/video features.  It will include Audyssey MultEQ XT 32 Room Correction, with 32 times the resolution quality of the current MultEQ XT system.

Are you the type of person that is fascinated with the images out of the new 3D HDTV sets but just can’t get over wearing the glasses?  You may have swallowed you pride and purchased a 3D TV with a few pairs of 3D glasses.  Heads up – there may be a cure for those still yet to buy into the technology.  Reports coming from Japan claim that Toshiba will be offering a 3D TV that does not require viewers to wear special glasses this year.

In the fall of 2009, Pioneer introduced the XW-NAS3 “Works with iPhone” audio/video docking system with a warm reception to the Canadian market.   A black version of this docking system was released this spring (XW-NAS3-K).

Denon has just announced that the company will celebrate its 100th anniversary with a limited-edition series of seven hand-tuned audio products that will be available November 1 through 40 hand-picked dealers in the U.S. (and other international dealers).

This past Friday, Panasonic said that it will move a part of its plasma display panel production facilities at Amagasaki City, near Osaka in Japan, to its operations in Shanghai to better respond to growing demand in China.

The moved operations will be part of Panasonic Plasma Display Shanghai, which is a joint venture between Panasonic and Shanghai City.
