Samsung's Latest Blu-Ray HTIB

In August, the $799 the 5.1-channel HT-BD2E will join the 7.1-channel systems, the $999 HT-BD2S and the $1,499 HD-BD2T, which are already shipping.

Currently, only Samsung and Panasonic offer HTiBs with included Blu-ray players.

Samsung’s three models feature integrated single-disc BD 1.0 Blu-ray player, HDMI-CEC, 1080p up-scaling of DVD content, outboard subwoofer, selectable 24/60 fps BD playback, Ethernet port for firmware upgrades, FM tuner, no AM tuner, and decoders for all surround formats approved for use on BD discs except for the DTS HD Master lossless-compression format

Panasonic Introduces HDMI Cables with Swiveling Heads

 

For those tight spots, where a standard cable can't be left poking out of the back of your receiver or HDTV, Panasonic has the solution!

The heads swivel 90-degrees in both directions, providing a 180-degree area of movement.

The cables come in 1.5m and 3.0m lengths and are rated to carry 1080p and Dolby TruHD/DTS-HD sound. They are set to ship to European and Asian markets and should be coming to North American shores shortly.

HSU Research Releases Wireless Subwoofer

The ULS-15 is an ultra low distortion subwoofer that extends down to 10 Hz in most rooms.

Mitsubishi Introduces Sound-Projecting HDTVs

Mitsubishi's new 149-Series HDTVs feature an Integrated Sound Projector (iSP).

The new series comes in 46-inch (LT-46149) and 52-inch (LT-52149) models with integrated 16-speaker sound projectors that create 5.1 channel sound from a single cabinet speaker attached below the TV screen.

Sony Expands ES Line of Receivers

 

Sony introduces three new receivers to the ES line. The STR-DA4400ES, STR-DA3400ES and STR-DA2400ES receivers support 1080/24p video signals, 1080p upscaling and are Sirius and XM Satellite Radio-ready.

The 7.1 channel receivers support Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD, DTS High Resolution Audio and DTS HD Master Audio. All three models use a Xross Media Bar-inspired GUI for navigation and BRAVIA Sync technology to synchronize compatible home theater components.

Vizio Introduces 2 LCDs, 1 Plasma HDTV

Vizio introduces its XVT Series of flat panel televisions which include two 1080p LCD HDTVs with 120Hz refresh rate and a 50" 1080p plasma panel that features Silicon Optix REON HQV processing.

Sharp's 108" LCD Available in September

 

Sharp’s gargantuan 108” LCD will be released in North America in September. Shockingly, it is the third largest LCD, behind JVC’s 110” and Panasonic’s 150”.
